What is Travelux?

Travelux is a social bookmarking and itinerary planning tool.

Yes, there are tools a plenty to help you find the right flight and hotel. But what about the rest of the time you are there? That is where we come in.

Intelligent, social Bookmarking
As you search and surf finding the restaurant, bar, cafe, museum for your wanderlust or an actual trip save it using our bookmarking tool. We'll keep it organized for you. When you come back to the site, you can look up all your information by group, location, date saved etc. Better yet, see what others are saving. See what your friends save in general or check out a destination and see what's popular.

Itinerary Planner
Now you've found a bunch of things to do, how about putting it into a detailed itinerary so you can have it all laid out and maximize your time. We've got the tools to help you with this. Then print and go. Or check it from our mobile friendly site.

Ok, so how does this work?

Simple! Three steps:

Some answers, to questions you might have.

When you say social, do you mean anyone can see my data?

When you save a 'listing' (a generic term for restaurants, bars, sights etc) you'll notice there are fields for the name, description, address and category. These are public fields, so anyone else who saves that same listing can benefit from you having entered that information, and vice-versa. But the field marked 'notes' is private, and only you can see that field. The only exception is you can choose to share your notes on an itinerary so others can benefit from it later.

Who runs this place?

We are a small team with an uncureable case of wanderlust who also love to build websites. We're based out of Seattle WA, but make it a point to get out and about as often as we can. We are always frustrated with the lack of tools to help us plan our trips.

I'm a geek, what did you build this on?

I'm a geek too! So I know you'll be suprised when I tell you this is an Azure site. But seriously, it's pretty cool stuff. Uses Azure storage, so totally scaleable (no-sql). Asp.net MVC is pretty sweet too (asp.net old school is not). And with the click of a button, when you tell all your friends how organized your travels are, we can add servers. It goes without saying it uses JQuery.

Non-geeks - this is built in the 'cloud'. :^)
